Controller

Position Overview.

The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting, financial reporting, technical accounting and finance operations functions for Elutia. This position ensures compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements for a public company.

What You’ll Do:

  • Direct and manage all aspects of the company’s accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end and year-end close, consolidations, and external reporting.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K), and related disclosures to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Lead technical accounting research and documentation for complex transactions, including revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, and other significant areas.
  • Oversee the accounts payable, accounts receivable and customer billing functions.
  • Ensure proper internal controls are designed, implemented, and maintained to support SOX readiness and public company standards.
  • Responsible for aligning financial reporting with forecasting, budgeting, and strategic decision-making.
  • Provide leadership and oversight of the Finance team, including performance management, professional development, and team structure planning.
  • Serve as a key financial partner to the VP Finance and senior leadership, supporting strategic initiatives and long-term financial planning.
  • Oversee and coordinate annual audit activities with external auditors and liaise with external advisors as necessary.
  • Participate in system and process improvements to enhance the efficiency, scalability, and accuracy of financial reporting.

 

 

What You’ll Bring: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
  • At least 8 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably including both public accounting and corporate accounting within a public company environment.
  • At least 5 years of experience working in a growing manufacturing/commercial environment required.
  • Strong technical accounting background with demonstrated understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Experience with financial consolidations, and external reporting.
  • Strong people leadership experience required; proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team.
  • Experience in a biotech, life sciences, or manufacturing environment preferred but not required.
  • Deep knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures for public companies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, small-company environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High degree of integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence decision-making at all organizational levels.
